Typing in mid-air or pretending to drink: How using your hands to communicate can help you understand others

Certain hand gestures, such as pretending to hold a cup in your hand and bringing it to your mouth to pretend to drink, help people respond more quickly in conversations. This is evident from research by neuroscientist Marlijn ter Bekke of the Donders Institute, who will be awarded a doctorate on this subject on 21 March at Radboud University.
