Discover The Story of the Parkers: Navigating a World Without Their Son Oliver
At the heart of “Inventing Paradise” lies the story of Reece and Vanessa Parker, starring actors Chris Jehnert and Sierra Cevasco. Their idyllic life is shattered when their young son, Oliver, played by Huntly Plantz, is tragically murdered. The film delves into the aftermath of this devastating loss, capturing the distinct ways each parent copes with their grief and attempts to re-establish their existence in a world forever altered.
In the film, Vanessa, a former renowned doctor turned stay-at-home mother, finds herself adrift in a “surreal landscape of well-meaning family and friends.” As she grapples with her new reality, she forms a mysterious bond with Bright, a troubled young boy haunted by his past. This unexpected connection offers Vanessa solace, pulling her away from the painful memories of Oliver.
In contrast, Reece immerses himself in the past, seeking comfort in outsiders who provide him with a connection to his son that Vanessa cannot. As he navigates his grief, he becomes drawn to individuals who help him relive and hold onto Oliver’s memories, even as Vanessa seeks to escape them.
Kenneth Price Shares Personal Background Behind Inspiration of Making the Film:
Kenneth Price from Trinity Productions, an independent filmmaker known for horror, takes a significant creative turn with “Inventing Paradise,” a project that explores the complexities of grief following the tragic loss of a loved one.
Kenneth Price shared further on Digital Journal:
“I dabbled before in the past with serious dramas, but those emotions always felt far too real for me, and that’s something I actively tried to avoid as a filmmaker. I’ll admit, I got into making horror movies to scare people, but I realized soon that I have a power as a storyteller to send a message worldwide that you’re not alone in your grief. You’re not alone in your sadness. There is a light at the end of that tunnel. Also, don’t be afraid to box yourself in a single genre; dare to be different. Be inspirational.”
This shift reflects Price’s personal experiences, particularly following the recent passing of his older brother, and marks his collaboration with Soren Carr. The film aims to provide a raw and relatable portrayal of the grieving process, showcasing Price’s evolution as a storyteller beyond his horror roots.
