Vehicle struck a tree and bursts into flames, driver killed

The provincial police are probing a collision in Bracebridge that resulted in a death over the weekend. The Bracebridge OPP and emergency services were dispatched to the scene of a single-vehicle crash on Stephenson Road 1 East shortly before 2 a.m. on Sunday.

In a statement issued on Monday, police announced that, unfortunately, the sole occupant was confirmed dead.

The road was subsequently closed between Pinedale Road and Bonnie Lake Road to facilitate the investigation. Throughout most of the day, motorists were rerouted around the affected area, and Stephenson Road 1 East was reopened around 5 p.m. on Sunday.
