Serious collision involving multiple vehicles shut down Highway 401 westbound in Cobourg

A major collision involving several vehicles has led to the closure of all westbound lanes on Highway 401 in Cobourg on Thursday afternoon. The Ontario Provincial Police have stated that the crash, which involved both transport trucks and passenger vehicles, occurred west of Burnham Street.

The specific time of the incident on January 16 has not been revealed by the OPP. Reports indicate that there are injuries. Traffic traveling west on Highway 401 is being diverted at Burnham Street as emergency services continue to operate at the scene.

The provincial police mentioned in a video from the snowy environment that the highway is likely to remain closed for an extended period.
